Forward Deployed Engineer — Banking Platforms - AI-Driven Core Banking Tech
I'm working with a fast-moving team building an AI-enabled, autonomous banking platform for Tier-1 financial institutions - backed by the scale and resources of a major global fintech, but operating with the speed and autonomy of a startup. This is a rare chance to ship production code that directly shapes how the world's largest banks modernise their core infrastructure.

The role
My client is looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer who'll embed directly with strategic bank clients as a hands-on engineer and trusted technical partner. You'll be:
  • Discovering pain points across architecture, infrastructure, and product teams, then designing the bank's future-state architecture
  • Building proofs of concept and end-to-end use cases — think digital twins, checking accounts, stablecoin wallets
  • Architecting clean, production-grade integrations across upstream and downstream systems
  • Building high-performance data pipelines connecting legacy and modern systems
  • Running performance, resilience, and failover testing at scale
  • Supporting presales with demos, workshops, and architecture education
  • Feeding learnings from the field back into the product roadmap
Expect travel to client sites of roughly 25–50%, depending on engagement phase.

What my client is looking for
  • A proven systems builder in Go or Rust
  • Deep distributed systems experience - Kafka, concurrency, event-driven architectures, multi-region databases
  • Strong cloud background (AWS/GCP/Azure), SRE principles, IaC, Kubernetes/OpenShift
  • Experience building data-intensive pipelines
  • An AI-native mindset - comfortable with LLMs and agentic development patterns
  • 4 years in a customer-facing technical role: Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Architect, Consultant, or Senior Software Engineer
  • Bonus points for fintech/banking domain knowledge (transaction flows, core banking systems)
Operating style
This is a high-agency role for someone who thrives without a playbook and is comfortable writing one. Ownership matters here - if something breaks before go-live, you fix it and build the system so it doesn't happen again. You'll move naturally between coding, architecture, and client-facing workshops.
