The Opportunity
This is a Senior or Staff Systems Engineer role inside a high-growth fintech operating at the cutting edge of autonomous banking infrastructure. You'll be embedded in a small, senior engineering team building the transaction layer that hundreds of millions of banking operations run on every single day.
The work is hard in the best way. You're building the systems that have to be correct under pressure, predictable under load, and resilient to failure at a scale most engineers never get near.

What You'll Own
  • Transaction Processing — Safe, reliable transaction flows that behave correctly even under retries, partial failures, and edge cases that break lesser systems
  • Performance — Profile and optimise the hot paths. Keep p95/p99 latency predictable. Make throughput scale. The 1% slowest transactions matter as much as the average
  • Reliability & Observability — Own production end-to-end. Build the metrics, tracing, alerting, and incident readiness that keeps things running when it counts
  • AI-Native Engineering — Use and shape AI-assisted workflows for debugging, operations, and developer productivity. This team builds with AI, not alongside it

What We're Looking For
  • Deep Go and/or Rust experience — not something you're learning, something you live in
  • Real distributed systems knowledge: you understand what goes wrong and why, not just the happy path
  • You've chased down hard performance problems and fixed them at the root
  • You own what you ship — production, on-call, postmortems, the lot
  • Security-minded by default, with strong instincts around auditability and correctness
  • Already using AI tools in your day-to-day engineering workflow
  • Experience in regulated environments or financial services is a plus, not a must
