Freelance Data Warehouse / ETL Engineer (Pentaho & Apache Hop) | Switzerland

I’m working with a Swiss client that needs an experienced DWH and ETL contractor to develop their data warehouse and move their Pentaho estate to Apache Hop.

Start: ASAP
Duration: 6 to 12 months, with the option to extend
Workload: 80 to 100%
Location: Switzerland (you must be based in Switzerland)
Language: German C1 or higher

What you’ll be doing:
  • Designing and developing the DWH architecture across the staging, core and data mart layers
  • Dimensional modelling (Kimball) and Data Vault 2.0, with SCD Type 1 and Type 2 historisation
  • Building and running complex ETL processes, from source-system analysis through to data provisioning for reporting
  • Delta and full loads, error handling, restartability, data quality checks and logging
  • Supporting reporting layers and owning operations: monitoring, incident analysis and performance tuning
What you’ll need:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Pentaho Data Integration (transformations, jobs, parameterisation, Carte Server) and/or Apache Hop (pipelines, workflows, project and environment configuration)
  • Experience migrating from PDI to Apache Hop (a big plus)
  • Strong SQL and PL/SQL across Oracle, PostgreSQL and SQL Server
  • Experience with Power BI and/or Pentaho Reporting
