Ethics of AI

Back to events
05 July 2018 13:00-13:00 London

We’ve seen the application of AI in real life such as Facebook and autonomous cars. For the first time, humanity is creating technology that can develop itself. We discussed and debated whether or not AI can be emotionally intelligent and the consequences/forays into this area to date. As we push the boundaries of AI, what are our social responsibilities, what duty to we have to progress society emotionally as well as technologically and how should we think about psychological health and well-being.

Our chair for the evening was UX/UI Manager, Pete Hotchkiss from Clarksons who asked some truly interesting questions to get the panel debate going. Our panelists included Head of Privacy and Data, Ivana Bartoletti from Germserv, Founder Seyi Akiwowo from Glitch!UK, Research Assosiciate on the AI Policy, Charlotte Stix from University of Cambridge, Programme Manager Reema Patel from Nuffield Foundation and Head of Security Engineering at Photobox.

Our panelists each gave there various opinions, insight and ideas on the Ethics of AI, each with a very unique view. Overall the event was an absolute success, with our very own Lloyd Hulme hitting the decks to play some real networking tunes to get the socialising going. Thank you to all of those who attended and we hope to see you at our next Soda Social!
