Are you a highly experienced Backend Software Engineer with a passion for building secure, scalable platforms? We're looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our Identity Management Services team, where you'll play a key role in designing and developing the core services that power enterprise identity infrastructure. This is an exciting opportunity to combine hands-on software engineering with technical leadership, helping to shape modern backend development practices while mentoring and upskilling a talented engineering team.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design, develop and maintain high-performance backend services using Java.
- Lead the technical direction of core identity platform development.
- Champion secure, resilient, and scalable application architecture.
- Mentor engineers and promote best practices across backend development.
- Drive adoption of modern engineering principles, coding standards and DevOps practices.
- Collaborate within Agile teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Support continuous improvement through monitoring, logging and performance optimisation.
What We're Looking For Essential Skills & Experience
- 8 years' experience developing backend applications using Java.
- Strong knowledge of Java frameworks and server-side technologies.
- Experience building web-based backend services and APIs.
- Solid understanding of DevOps practices including CI/CD and version control.
- Experience with security principles and identity management solutions.
- Knowledge of monitoring, logging and observability tools.
- Strong experience with relational databases.
- Proven technical leadership and mentoring capability.
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
Desirable Skills
- Networking knowledge including subnets, firewalls, load balancing and VPN configurations.
- Experience troubleshooting complex production issues.
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
