Your Role
As a Principal Full Stack Engineer, you will join the High Income and Alternatives Technology team, contributing to the design and development of high-impact software used by Portfolio Managers and Analysts managing over $100 billion in investment funds. This is a hands-on role where you'll work on Alphabet, our flagship portfolio construction platform, and influence engineering practices across teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop scalable and maintainable software in an agile environment
- Write robust, well-tested code, contributing to automation and CI/CD pipelines
- Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and technical discussions
- Collaborate with architects, product owners, and business stakeholders to align software solutions with strategic objectives
- Influence platform-wide decisions on architecture, frameworks, and development practices
- Understand and incorporate business logic, particularly in investment domains
- Drive best practices in test-first development and engineering quality
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 8 years of full stack development experience
- Proficient in:
- Java 17
- React, Spring, Spring Boot
- RESTful services
- Angular 12 experience desirable; willingness to learn essential
- Experience with:
- Test automation (Karate, Cypress, Mockito)
- Messaging systems (Kafka is a plus)
- AWS, EKS, Kubernetes deployment
- Oracle, JPA, GraphQL (a plus)
- Strong grasp of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns
- Exposure to financial services, especially Equities, Fixed Income, or Alternatives, is advantageous
- Excellent communication skills and experience influencing technical direction
- A passion for continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies
