We’re looking for a highly skilled Network Engineer to join a cutting-edge SDA Phase 2 programme in Barrow-in-Furness. This is a full-time contract, on-site role with the chance to make a direct impact on large-scale, secure network transformations.
Location: Barrow-in-Furness (on-site, 5 days a week)
Contract: Until 31/12/2025
Rate: £525 per day (Inside IR35)
Clearance: Active SC Clearance required
Shifts: Standard 7.5hr days rotational evening shifts (16:30–23:30, 2 weeks on/2 weeks off – subject to change)
What you’ll be doing
- Contribute to High-Level Designs and create detailed Low-Level Designs
- Configure core infrastructure components across Data Centres, WAN, firewalls, load balancers, and Wi-Fi controllers
- Deliver impact assessments for complex networks
- Run planned testing, analyse results, and implement improvements
- Carry out site surveys for fibre distribution, cabling, power, and space planning
- Lead on SDA switch installation, configuration, and testing, including decommissioning old kit
Your expertise
- Proven experience in Network Architecture & Design (HLD/LLD)
- Hands-on skills with Cisco Networking, Cisco SDA, Cisco ACI, and Meraki
- Strong knowledge of Data Centre Networking, Routing/Switching, and Firewalls (Palo Alto/Cisco)
- Expertise in Authentication (802.1x, Cisco ISE, AD) and Network Management
- Familiarity with Load Balancing (Netscaler), Wi-Fi, Remote Access, and Encryption
- Experience working in secure, high-compliance environments
