BI Specialist – HIRING ASAP

Start date: ASAP
Duration: 6 months initially
Location: 1-2 days per week in Bristol office, 3-4 days remote per week
Rate: £400 - £450 per day outside IR35

Summary:

We need an experienced BI specialist to build a new SQL Server BI stack and migrate all BI components (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, databases, jobs, configurations) from existing legacy servers. You will work closely with an internal DBA team that has strong SQL Server skills but require deeper skills across the BI tooling.

Responsibilities:
  • Install and configure SQL Server 2014 components on Windows Server 2019.
  • Migrate:
    • SQL databases and SQL Agent jobs
    • SSIS packages and configurations
    • SSRS reports, data sources, and subscriptions
    • SSAS models, roles, and processing
  • Validate and test migrated components for functional and performance parity.
  • Produce runbooks, documentation, and handover materials.
  • Assist with cutover planning, execution, and post‑migration support.
Skills:

Strong experience with SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, and SQL Server administration.
  • Hands‑on delivery of BI migrations between Windows Server versions.
  • Good understanding of ETL, reporting, and cube processing performance.
  • PowerShell and T‑SQL scripting for automation.
  • Experience working in controlled/regulated IT environments.
Nice to have skills:
  • SSAS (Tabular or Multidimensional) optimisation experience
  • Knowledge of drivers/providers and external data sources
  • Experience with SQL Server HA/DR setups
