Marketing and Media Officer - Hiring ASAP

Start: ASAP
Length: 3 months (extension potential)
Location: London (2 days in office & 3 days working from home)
Rate: £130-£150 per day.
Engagement: Inside IR35

Summary

The role holder supports the delivery of marketing and communications activity, particularly using visual media, to equip our clients' colleagues to communicate effectively about their services, programmes, and events.

You will design, create, and commission promotional material (including signs, guides, photos, videos, and animations), for print and electronic delivery, across multiple channels. You will work closely with the Senior Communications Officer and Head of Communications, relevant colleagues within the department, and other communications practitioners within our client, to help deliver the clients' communications strategy and support the department's users.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain a suite of high-quality marketing materials, signage, and related content, in print or digital format, under the direction of the Senior Communications Officer and the Head of Communications, within agreed corporate standards, using appropriate tools including Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Facilitate the creation by external creative and print suppliers of promotional film, photographic and design content, according to brief and sign-off by stakeholder groups, ensuring content accurately reflects brand and messaging.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the production of new signage, guides, and marketing material, ensuring that all necessary approvals and authorisations are obtained for each job stage.
  • Participate in the creation of communications and marketing material, including visual and written content for web, e-comms, and social media, as agreed with the line manager.
  • Support the general external communications, marketing, and internal communications work by taking and editing photographs, videos, and animations, and contributing to wider audiovisual projects.
  • Contribute to the display and maintenance of appropriate signage in designated public areas, including digital signage using the ONELAN platform.
  • With the Senior Communications Officer, ensure the management and curation of central/shared content used in communications.
  • Ensure all content is created within the clients' brand and act as a brand ambassador within the department.
  • Carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the line manager, the Directors, senior staff acting as Duty Officer or the Pro-Vice-Provost
  • The post holder will support and advance equality, diversity, and inclusion ambitions.
  • The post holder will maintain an awareness and observation of Health and Safety Regulations and will be required to undertake Fire Marshal duties, after appropriate training.

Key Skills

  • Experience of designing promotional materials and signage; photography and videography.
  • Ability to use design software, particularly Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop); and video capture equipment and editing software, particularly Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Understanding of print and production processes.
  • Experience of managing social media channels to promote an organisation, project, or campaign.
  • Experience of working in a cultural or academic environment.
  • Ability to create simple animations, using Adobe After Effects software.
