Internal Communication Manager

Start: ASAP
Length: 6 Months + Extension
Location: London 3 Days per Week / Home 2 Days per Week

Rate: £400PD

As Hyperoptic scales, clear, concise and timely communication with employees has never been more important. We all know that amazing internal communication plays a big part in employee engagement. And engaged employees start every day raring to go, fundamentally driving company performance.

This role is responsible for the overall internal communication strategy at Hyperoptic including employee events. From direction-setting to day-to-day delivery, the Head of Internal Communication embraces overall responsibility for the way Hyperoptic communicates internally, advising senior leaders on best practice, setting strategy and delivering on it to keep Hyperoptic's near 2,000 people laser-focused on its mission, purpose and values.
It's a hands-on position leading a team of two talented managers across the UK and Serbia.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Setting an outcome-based, two-way strategy for internal communication and supporting delivery plans and roadmaps
  • Supporting engagement strategy in all our locations through effective use of communication tools

Leadership

  • Leading, developing and supporting the internal communication team
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, including the executive leadership team, counselling on best practice for internal communication
  • Driving leadership visibility and trust across Hyperoptic

Content

  • Effective storytelling of company and people news, focusing on human-interest stories, making sure all employees' voices are heard, and the goings-on from all corners of Hyperoptic are amplified
  • Leading the annual cycle of employee communication - including Hyperoptic's performance management programme, moments that matter (onboarding, bonus payments) , recognition and any related HR Comms.

Channels

  • Continuous development of channel framework and mix to best support employee needs, including upcoming intranet redevelopment project
  • Leadership of enterprise social network (Yammer) to drive organic engagement between employees and user-generated content

Planning and measurement

  • Leading with a data-driven, evidence-based approach

Events

  • Leading on all internal events, such as quarterly company updates and annual kick-off events
  • Advising leaders on divisional all-hands meetings

Role Objectives/Success Measures

  • Continued development and delivery of internal communication strategy
  • Scoped and delivered new intranet solution
  • Increased localised, tailored, and personalised communication in communities across the company (eg in Serbia)
  • Employee engagement scores

Skill Set

  • Extensive experience in internal communications working in growth environment
  • Experience of different employee persona communication styles (Corporate/Field based)
  • Has worked internationally (Eastern Europe /Serbia preferred)
  • Ability to curate content engaging various channels of internal comms
  • A project manager with high attention to detail
  • Intranet creation, roll out and management
  • Experience working with CEO office in direct capacity before
  • Ability to make the complex simple (storytelling)
  • Skilled relationship builder, confident at liaising with senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, across a variety of stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret data and insights to design and deliver the optimum communications strategy
  • Willingness to take on projects/challenges outside of job remit as and when required
