On 31st March, we partnered with Code Institute for our SODA Social webinar, ‘The Journey... Transforming Software Engineers into Leaders.’
We spoke about how soft skills are highly important when hoping to venture into a leadership position. We also addressed the importance of listening to others and learning from feedback, which often helps leaders enhance and develop their skills. Jessy Halison called for leaders to greatly consider how they can support their colleagues on a human level, ‘if we reconnect humanity, people will bring their best selves to work.’ Our panel concluded that the best way to gain a leadership position is to be proactive. 70% of roles are not posted on job boards, and it has become more critical than ever to carve your own career path and create new challenges and opportunities.
