The company seeks a skilled Inside Plant and Design Support Engineer to join its Edge and Network Services team. This team oversees the deployment and support of one of the world's most extensive and intricate networks. As a member of this team, you will have the privilege of contributing to all facets of networking. Your responsibilities will encompass the design and implementation of capacity planning for all physical infrastructure on a global scale, including MV/LV space, power, cooling, cabling, and other infrastructure considerations within external/internal POP/CLS and ILA facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning and design of global space and power infrastructure for POPs, CLS, and ILAs.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to determine the sizing and specifications of utilities, switchgear, UPS/DC power plants, PDUs, mechanical cooling, and LV distribution systems.

  • Manage global space, power, cabling, and other inside plant infrastructure requirements for edge networks, ensuring they meet both current and future needs.

  • Actively engage with data centre operators to evaluate their facilities and recommend improvements to align with the company's standard design baseline requirements.

  • Develop a multi-year (2-5 year) proactive plan for space, power, cooling, cabling, and other infrastructure requirements to meet forecasted demand trends.

  • Create optimised layouts for edge site floor plans, allocating space for network functions, optical, backbone, IP, compute, and other components.

  • Deliver timely engineering design packages related to site infrastructure for sourcing and network investment teams.

  • Generate capacity reports to analyse long-term trends and industry directions, enabling forecasting and budgeting for future growth. Monitor capacity thresholds and initiate proactive builds to expand inventory in accordance with edge and backbone deployment forecasts.
