Lead Data Architect

Start Date: ASAP, we can accommodate a 4-week notice period.

Contract Length: 6 - 12 Months initial contract + Extension. Project signed off for 16 months for now.

Location: 1 day on-site in Dublin - the rest of the week remote.

Pay: 650€ - 750€ per day

I am working with a leading Tech company that is looking for an experienced Lead Data Architect to join their international team in their center of excellence in Dublin and help them develop designs that support their customers' needs, while defining and driving standards in how they create best in breed modern data platforms.

Ideally, we are looking for someone that would be able to start this project by September 2023, however, we can accommodate a reasonable notice period.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with your skillset to be part of a project with international exposure.

The role

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Internal I.T stakeholders, engineers, and business stakeholders, to translate business requirements into technical specifications and architectural designs.

- Leading small POC's with engineers to understand the viability of new tools or design patterns

- Working with the delivery team to solve design problems or constraints during

delivery

- Partner with our customer's internal I.T and technology departments on process and procedures related to the design, implementation and transfer of ownership of the solution.

- Defining design patterns and best practices for different data processing and analytical patterns

- Stay current with emerging technologies, trends, and industry standards in data architecture and management

Responsibilities

- Conduct assessment of existing data architectures, identify areas of improvement, and recommend remediation plans to optimise data management process and systems.

- Lead the design of data artefacts, including data modelling, data integration, data storage, and data governance based on industry best practices and client-specific requirements.

- Oversight of platform architecture implementation during delivery

- Ensure all procedural aspects of architectural design are considered, documented and communicated clearly to the customer (Design decisions, Service Cost, Data Growth & TCO, Disaster Recovery, Functional, Non-functional requirements)

Skills/Experience

  • 8+ years of experienced designing and building data platform components across all stages of analytical value chain (Ingestion, storage, modelling, processing, presentation)

  • Extensive experience designing cloud based data and analytical platforms on AWS/Azure

  • Extensive knowledge of data integration techniques, Modern platform designs, ETL processes, and traditional data warehouse design.

  • Ability to extract reusable blueprints and design patterns from previous projects to increase team leverage

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex business requirements and design innovative data solutions.

  • Experience in designing and implementing data governance frameworks and practices.

  • Comfortable presenting designs to technical and non-technical audience

  • Strong leadership abilities, with the capacity to provide technical leadership

to the delivery team to drive successful project outcomes.

  • The ability to take ownership of problems end to end and find creative solutions.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal, and written communication skills; a

team player and keen learner who loves building great things together.

  • Knowledge & experience with of any of these (desirable): DataBricks, Snowflake, Data Governance (Collibra, Talend), iPaaS (Workato, Mulesoft), Data Visualisation (Tableau, Looker, PowerBI) or Master Data management systems

  • Interest in designing AI/ML applications
