Position: Backup Server Engineer - Level 3 (TSM/Cobalt Iron)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: 18 Months

Job Summary:

As a Senior Backup Server Engineer, you will oversee the administration of TSM and Cobalt Iron platforms to provide top-tier backup and recovery services to our banking sector clients. Your role will involve resolving complex issues within the backup infrastructure, mentoring junior staff, and driving systematic improvements across the environment. You will be instrumental in hardware and software lifecycle management, migrating systems to support strategic changes, and implementing backup infrastructure components. Additionally, your expertise will help automate backup processes and provide robust support both during and outside of standard hours.

Key Responsibilities:

- Deliver high-quality backup services, enhancing simplicity and client satisfaction.
- Manage TSM and Cobalt Iron systems across Unix, Linux, and Windows server environments.
- Design and implement backup infrastructure, including the management of backup repositories.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting for issues related to backup tapes and storage.
- Address critical incidents within the backup infrastructure, coordinating with multiple technical teams.
- Offer guidance and mentorship to junior team members while managing your own workload.
- Ensure deep expertise in TSM and Cobalt Iron operations, both via command line and GUI interfaces.
- Facilitate timely responses from key vendors to maintain service levels.
- Uphold strict adherence to company protocols such as change management, incident management, and problem management.
- Employ automation tools to streamline backup processes effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Advanced proficiency in Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Proven success in script development and process optimization.
- Strong client engagement skills and the ability to produce detailed operational reports.
- Broad knowledge across technologies, especially in networking and operating systems.
- Experience managing large-scale, critical backup infrastructures.

Education & Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 10 years of experience in TSM administration, & 4 years in Cobalt Iron administration.
- Comprehensive experience (minimum 10 years) in backup and recovery operations.
