Position: Backup Client Engineer - Level 2 (TSM/Cobalt Iron)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: 18 Months
Location: Kirchberg, Luxembourg

Job Summary:

In this role, you will administer backup and recovery services primarily for our banking sector clients using TSM and Cobalt Iron technologies. Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing daily backup operations, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and fulfilling audit and data restoration requests. You will play a crucial role in software upgrades and agent installations, as well as in migrating backups between different systems. Your contributions to automating backup processes and acting as a support escalation point are vital.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage and optimize backup and recovery operations to ensure service excellence and simplicity in user experience.
- Administer backup and restore functions across Unix, Linux, and Windows server environments using TSM and Cobalt Iron systems.
- Address and resolve performance issues of backup agents.
- Schedule and manage backup jobs effectively, ensuring compliance with policies.
- Serve in on-call rotations, providing expert support as needed.
- Maintain a deep understanding of client-side installations for both TSM and Cobalt Iron.
- Troubleshoot diverse server issues across different operating systems using relevant diagnostic tools.
- Adhere to and enforce strict adherence to company protocols, including change management, incident management, and problem management.
- Leverage automation tools to streamline backup processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Strong command of Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Proficiency in scripting languages, including Python and Bash.
- Capable of generating detailed operational reports.
- Understanding of basic networking principles.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale distributed client installations.

Education & Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in TSM administration.
- At least 2 years of experience with Cobalt Iron administration is preferred.
- Extensive experience (minimum 5 years) in backup and recovery operations.
