Your day to day

You will be joining a brand-new platform team of two, and focus on building and scaling backend services with reliability at the forefront of what you do. Working with the Backend Lead and Head of Engineering, you can be involved with the SRE Direction with scale in mind, coach developers on the best metrics, and ensure the business is the best reliability business out there. You will also be involved in tweaking code and software engineering;

The biggest up-and-coming project is a cloud monitoring cost optimisation project. They would like to move away from AWS Lambda for monitoring, and you get to choose what to. (ECS or EC2 Perhaps?)

You will also be responsible for the Platform Engineering Roadmap in the future, so some experience here is important.

Some core focuses

• Writing and Scaling Backend Services in Node/JS
• Observability of the backend platform: defining bottlenecks, tracking and fixing them
• Migrate secrets from Heroku to AWS Secrets Manager
• Optimize performance and reduce error rates: from wild queries, to slow queues to bugs.
• Define SLO's and SLA's
• Spot observability blindpsots
• Curate platform insights

Stack: AWS Lambda/SQS/SNS/S3, Heroku, Serverless, Postgres, Redis, ClickHouse, Prometheus, Grafana, Javascript, Node.js

Your profile?

• Any software engineering background - (they work in node.js but great engineers can work with anything)
• Worked with public cloud (AWS ideally but it doesn't matter too much)
• Worked on incidents/troubleshooting
• Seniority to own SRE direction and make decisions
• In GMT +/-3
