Job description

Principal Java Engineer

Have you really wanted to work in a start-up company where you can build a brand new platform from scratch, but you didn't make the jump as you were too worried about the job security? I have an opportunity which would give you the best of both worlds, a greenfield project building a new platform, and the financial security of a multinational business.

My client are a multinational financial services business who are investing in building a brand new SaaS platform. The project is being lead by a number of principal engineers being hired into the Dublin office. Each principal engineer will take ownership of a different business unit of the project and be the technical leader/architect.

The role:

Tech Stack - Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, AWS, Docker, k8s, Kafka

You can break your day to day down into two parts:

1) Engaging with your team to check on the status of the project and give advice and guidance on any issues. You'll be the final escalation point for any issues from a technical standpoint, but not the line manager of the team.

2) The second part will involve being an architect. You'll be asked to plan for the future and give your thoughts and opinions on the best technical direction of the project.

Ultimately you will be responsible for setting an example of engineering excellence for the rest of the team.

Reasons to join the team:

  • Very new department for the organisation, extremely well funded with excellent buy in from stakeholder level
  • Opportunity to build a brand new start-up platform with no issues around funding or job security
  • Working with a team of outstanding engineering peers to build something elite
  • Join an environment where your opinion will be hugely valued, they want opinionated engineers to come in so they can give them the freedom to build the best platform they can
