Cyber Security Engineer

Start: ASAP

Length: 6 months

Location: Fareham, Portsmouth (2 days onsite, 3 days WFH)

Rate: £600PD - £650PD

IR35: Outside

Clearance Required: ACTIVE SC level

Trust In Soda have partnered with an award winning digital services agency, who are in need of an SC Cleared Cyber Security Engineer to join a project for one of their key public sector end clients, with the objective working to design, implement, test and secure an advanced Platform-as-a-Service concept.

Experience working in security operations, vulnerability management, red team/incident responder, security operations analyst or a similar position; with direct experience using NIST or similar frameworks to assess cyber security risks on distributed service-based systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Formally assess, under guidance and using common frameworks, cyber security risks to the project and the delivered systems
  • Explain threats, risks and controls to non-technical staff
  • Configure operating systems and network devices
  • Run monitoring application stacks such as ELK, and carry out periodic patrols of the deployed systems.
  • Research cyber security threats and vulnerabilities
  • Review code from other staff and 3rd parties
  • Own and manage knowledge sharing within the project and across related communities.

Experience/Skills:

  • Qualification in either technical aspects of Cyber Security, including practical experience in attacking and defending system, or in analysing cyber-security related threats, vulnerabilities and associated controls.
  • Good knowledge of quality standards, legislation and best practice
  • Strong written and verbal English, able to present complex concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Used to Linux command line and a working understanding of the Linux operating system
  • Proven skills in a scripting language (eg Python, Perl, Bash)
